Marcelo Negrão launches volleyball team with EntrePay sponsorship
The announcement of the Brazilian Olympic champion's team, called Norde, was featured in press outlets such as IstoÉ Esportes
In the midst of the Paris Games, former Olympic champion Marcelo Negrão announced the creation of a men's volleyball team, sponsored by EntrePay, part of the Entre Group. As reported by websites such as Istoé Esportes, Veja and Diário do Nordeste, the team, which will be led by him, is called Norde and began training in August in Fortaleza (CE), where it is based, taking advantage of the structure of Clube BNB.
Negrão's ambition, according to the websites, is to take a team from the Northeast to the Super League, the top division of the sport in Brazil - the team's name is a reference to the region - for the first time in around two years. "In the Northeast, there are no professional volleyball teams aiming for the top division. So it was this idea, to change the concept of the sport in the Northeast, especially in Fortaleza, that made me start this project," said the former player.
"The region has immense potential. We want to help develop it, not only with our products, but also by supporting other areas, such as sports," said Antonio Freixo, Mineiro, CEO of Grupo Entre, about the launch. "It's a proposal in line with our mission to democratize access to financial services in order to increase inclusion and income generation for everyone involved in our ecosystem."
